Hypothesis

This study aims to assess awareness of NCD screening and associated factors among reproductive-age women in the Gofa and Basketo zones.

Conclusion

Nearly half of the study population had no awareness of NCD screening and the vast majority had poor screening practice.

Supporting Evidence

  • 54.8% of women were aware of NCD screening.
  • Only 43.0% had undergone screening for hypertension.
  • Awareness was significantly higher among urban residents.
  • Education level positively correlated with awareness of screening.
  • Married and single women had higher awareness than widowed/divorced.

Takeaway

The study found that many women in Southern Ethiopia don't know about important health screenings for diseases like diabetes and cancer, which can help them stay healthy.

Methodology

A community-based cross-sectional study design was employed, using multistage cluster sampling and multivariate logistic regression analysis.

Limitations

The cross-sectional design limits the ability to establish causal relationships.
